Two people accused of negligent use of fire following fatal fire in Laksevåg

One person was killed in the fire, of which police were notified shortly after 1 p.m. Monday. Two others were rescued from the apartment alive, and have now been charged, Bergensavisen reports.

– It may appear that they have been near the fireplace, and they have been explained in a way that makes us want to get more information, says police lawyer on duty Arne Fjellstad to BA.

The two are accused of negligent use of fire, have been arrested and are in police custody.

– Hopefully we get the clarifications we need quickly, says Fjellstad.

May be released Monday night

At their own request, neither of them has been appointed as a defender, reports Bergens Tidende.

– We hope that they can be released tonight after having carried out the necessary investigations. In this case, it is the destruction of evidence that is relevant in that context, Fjellstad tells BT.

It stresses that there is nothing in the investigation to indicate that the fire was started on purpose.

Fire in wooden building

Emergency services were notified of the fire in a wooden building shortly after 1 p.m. Monday afternoon. At 2.30pm he reported 110 switchboard Hordaland that the fire was extinguished.

– There have been three people present in the apartment in question. “We have taken out two, and a dead person has been found inside the apartment,” Operations Director Ole Marius Røttingen told Bergensavisen.

In a press release, the police state that the person has not been identified and that the family members have not been notified.

A total of five people were carried out of the burning house by smoke divers.
