– It’s the first FCK training session for me without Ståle being the coach. Now we just have to move on, even though this is a sad and sad day. We say goodbye to the best coach in the history of the Super League.
This is what Peter Ankersen says on Danish TV 2. Høyrebacken played more than 100 games for Solbakken in the period 2015-2019. It was later sold to the Italian Genoa. Three weeks ago he decided to return to FCK.
– What do you lose when Ståle Solbakken leaves?
FCK leader: – Personally, it is the most difficult decision I have made.
– We lose a great personality and a great coach. It is almost a synonym for FCK. It has brought DNA to the club and it is a big reason the club has converted, says Ankersen.
Shocking news broke that FCK had fired Ståle Solbakken early on Saturday morning. It was in 2005 that Solbakken was given the responsibility of coach at FCK for the first time. Six years later he was promoted to the Bundesliga and Cologne.
His stay in Germany failed, as did his next job in Wolverhampton. In 2013, he returned to FCK, which he managed until he was fired on Saturday morning.
As the coach of the club in the Danish capital, he has led the club to eight league and four cup championships. He has also led the club to several group matches in Europe.
– Players must also take responsibility
On Saturday afternoon, FCK completed its first training session in more than seven years without Ståle Solbakken as the leader. Nicolai Boilesen has been with the team since 2016. On Saturday he woke up to the news that Solbakken was finished.

– I slept a bit today, so when I woke up I saw on my mobile that Ståle had been fired. The first reaction was shock, but at the same time I know how football works. Things happen fast, but today is a sad day, says the 28-year-old.
– How he feels now?
– When a coach is fired, it is usually because the team has performed below expectations. This is something that players must also take responsibility for, says Boilesen.
Think that management has made the right decision
Peter Ankersen has only played one game after returning from Serie A, but he has had time to experience problems at the club.
– The situation with a bad score has not been good enough for FCK. I think the management has probably made this decision for the best of the club.
– Have you players been involved in the dismissal?
– The players have had no influence on this. It is the management that has made this decision. “We are employed to play football, not to make those decisions,” Ankersen tells TV 2 Denmark.
– What do you think of the dismissal?
– I choose to keep my personal opinion. But I am sure that the club has made the best decision for the club. I respect it, he says.
