Wikestad thinks it was great to be back in the hockey community.
– It was very, very nice. The hockey environment is extremely open and inclusive. I have received so many nice messages from different people in the hockey community that I really appreciate it. It is very nice to meet people and talk to people. It was really nice to get out and meet people a bit, she says.
In January 2017, he had to wipe away a few tears as Vålerenga’s last match at old Jordal was coming to an end.
– It was horrible to take down old Jordal simply because of the history that was there, but they didn’t take proper care of him. Then it became the only option. But the building that is there now is “state of the art.” A completely crazy installation. Also, they have retained some of the old Jordal feeling. The turn is still very steep and the red seats are a tribute to old Jordal. He looked incredibly cute, she says.
– Will lift Norwegian hockey
Wikestad believes that the importance of the room for Norwegian hockey cannot be stressed enough.
– Not only will Vålerenga lift, but also Norwegian hockey. With a new room in Asker and maybe Fredrikstad too, the Norwegian hockey league will be even more fantastic to watch. It will be a boost for all of hockey, says the commentator, who believes that Vålerenga can fight at the top this season.
– It’s time for Vålerenga. They have never had a longer stay between two royal trophies than the drought they are in now. It is time for them to form a team that can win the Copa del Rey. They seem to have a very, very strong team. This season can be a bit difficult, but I think it can be tremendously exciting in the Fjordkraft league throughout the season and the playoffs.
