Single parent families were previously compared in tax class 2, but as of 2013 this was changed so that single parent families are equal in tax class 1 with a separate deduction for single parent families. The updated deduction calculation can be viewed at the bottom of the calculator.

Shared residence

If you are a single parent and have agreed to co-residency with the other parent, the special deduction will be divided between the parties 50/50. The updated distribution calculation can be seen at the bottom of the calculator.

This is as follows:

This is a state budget proposal

The budget being presented now is a state budget proposal, which is presented to the Storting.

It is always presented at the beginning of October of the year prior to the budget year, which is why it is called the 2021 State Budget.

The state budget is presented alongside the national budget, which explains the socioeconomic considerations on which the budget is based. The proposed state budget will then be considered by the Storting, which may make changes.

The Storting adopts the final budget, which then becomes binding on the government and therefore on the state administration.

The revised national budget arrives in May 2021. Read more about the differences between the state budget and the revised national budget here.
