Charlie Heager, 37, a former baseball player for the Los Angeles Dodgers, was suspected of killing his ex-girlfriend. On Saturday he was found dead in the Grand Canyon of Arizona. And the police have no idea how it ended up there.

Currently, the police refer to the death as suicide, because a self-inflicted gunshot wound has been found on his body.

The body was found there around 4 p.m., Scottsdale Police Department police said. They were looking for him mainly because he was suspected of having shot and killed his ex-girlfriend Danielle Breed (34) the day before.

A witness is said to have heard gunshots from Breed’s room and then saw the baseball profile leave the property.

The Guardian is among the media that have covered the case.

“We’d like people to help us figure out how Heager was transported to the Grand Canyon,” said Brian Reynolds, a police spokesman.

The reason is that the police found Heager’s car in Flagstaff, while his body was found in the Grand Canyon.

Heager has previously played baseball in MLB, the highest level of baseball in the United States. There he has played for the Chicago White Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
