On Sunday last week, it was announced that King Harald (83) is still under investigation and that his sick leave will be extended.
The news came after King Harald was on sick leave for a week from his royal duties after being admitted to the Rikshospitalet in Oslo due to heavy breathing.
It was ruled out early that the king had been infected with the coronavirus and he was examined for respiratory problems.
Reveal reason for admission
As a result of the 83-year-old sick leave, his son, Crown Prince Haakon (47), has taken over the king’s duties. Guri Varpe, the Palace’s communications chief, told Dagbladet on Sunday that it has not yet been clarified how long the king will be on sick leave.
Changes
But now, however, changes have been made to the castle’s program. The castle’s website indicated yesterday that King Harald would receive the foreign minister in an audience next Thursday.
On Tuesday night, Thursday’s schedule was changed so that Crown Prince Haakon is the father’s surrogate.
Guri Varpe, the Palace’s communications director, confirms to Dagbladet that changes have been made to Thursday’s schedule.
– Due to the king’s sick leave, it is the Crown Prince’s regent who holds a regular audience and a solemn audience on Thursday, he explains.

However, it may appear that King Harald is returning from sick leave next Friday, when he appears on the program for a cabinet meeting. Crown Prince Haakon will also be in attendance on Friday.
It was on Monday of last week that the king was released from the hospital. Then it was confirmed that he would be on sick leave until October 4, but therefore they have chosen to extend it.
Due to sick leave, it was the Crown Prince who had to open the Storting last week. The Royal Household Seeing and Hearing expert Anders Johan Stavseng told Dagbladet that the Crown Prince became historical.
– It is the first time that a crown prince and not a king read the speech of the throne in 30 years. The last time was in 1990, months before King Olav’s death.
Stavseng made no secret of the fact that it was a special day for Haakon.

On the day the king was admitted to the hospital, he should have visited Maihaugen in Lillehammer together with Queen Sonja (83), where they were scheduled to visit the queen’s childhood home.
Therefore, Sonja had to complete the visit without her husband, but she was able to assure that the king was fine.
– I passed before traveling to Lillehammer. It seems to be going very well. The king himself is satisfied and his doctor is satisfied, Queen Sonja told reporters in Lillehammer.
Draws attention on the outside

The day before the inauguration, the king was quick and swift as he disembarked on the Royal Norwegian Ship along with Queen Sonja and Crown Prince Haakon, which may have indicated that the king’s admission was not planned in advance.
