He connects the murder investigation in Kristiansand with the “violent left”:

Former Justice Minister and current Storting representative and member of the Storting Justice Committee, Per-Willy Amundsen, believes that violence from the left is not communicated in Norway and links what he calls the “violent left” with the investigation of the murder in Kristiansand.

On Saturday, Dan-E Vind Lid (48) was found dead in his own apartment. Lid is involved in the far-right organization “Stop the Islamization of Norway”.

Police said at a news conference Sunday that they hypothesized that Lid is the victim of a criminal act, but they currently have no suspects in the case, and it is unclear what the motive may be.

Connect the left side to the case

In a Facebook post at 1 pm, former Justice Minister Per-Willy Amundsen asks about “good hatred has cost lives” and that “hate from the far left must be taken seriously.”

– As Prime Minister of Justice, I think it is very, very little communicated how much violence is happening on the left. The “violent left” is a real thing. And you in the media only write about the “right to violence”. It will never be visible that we have exactly the same groupings left, says Amundsen when asked by TV 2 to expand the Facebook post.

– Why do you go out on Facebook and connect it with what you call the violent left to this before we know what has happened?

– I perceive that I am only pointing out the obvious. It is natural for one to think in the direction that is politically motivated. I hope it isn’t, says Amundsen.

He believes that the violence of the left is hidden.

– Are you thinking of a special group?

– There are elements of the Red Party that use violence to promote their message. Reds who call themselves communists, says Amundsen.

– I do not want to accuse your parliamentary representative of being violent, but you have to remember that it is a self-proclaimed communist party.

– Are you afraid that you could provoke reactions by linking the left to this issue, now before we know what happened?

– No. I feel like I’m just pointing out the obvious. If it is a politically motivated murder, I am very concerned.

Amundsen then highlights scenes that have been seen in the United States recently.

– There are scenes we don’t want in Norway. The violent left is a danger to democracy, says Amundsen.

In the comment section of his own post, Amundsen moderates his statement a bit.

“It is important to understand that we do not yet know the history of the death. Although it raises suspicions in an obvious direction. It is now crucial that the police investigate the case extensively and use the necessary resources to solve the murder,” writes Amundsen.

Sad and dangerous

Eivor Evenrud is the leader of the Oslo City Council’s culture and education committee for Rødt. She reacts strongly when presented with what Amundsen has said.

– Perhaps the most expensive thing I have ever heard from a Norwegian politician. That this is a comment on an unsolved murder investigation worries me greatly about the increasing polarization, says Evenrud.

She reacts in particular to the fact that a politician with experience as a Minister of Justice and who sits on the Justice Committee speaks like Amundsen.

– Connecting to the left with an ongoing homicide investigation is potentially dangerous for me as a politician in the red. That he insinuates that he is politically motivated, is the bottom line and is sad. It is dangerous and not worthy of the politically elected Storting, he says.

You are now urging the FRP to settle down.

– It’s a crisis. You can’t sink that low in public conversation. I have the impression that Per Willy is a smart guy and knows what he’s doing. I hope the party clears its ranks, says Evenrud.

– unheard

– What Per-Willy does here is unheard of. To speculate whether it is murder or not, you must remain too good a politician. It shows that you don’t trust our legal system, says Eide, who sits on the justice committee along with Amundsen.

He believes that the plot can be interpreted as the FRP politician trying to influence the police investigation.

– That he as a politician interferes in the work of the police, indicates in which direction the police should look and gives indicators of what it can be, he says.

He also believes that Amundsen contributes to polarization with his proposal.

– Besides, it’s that it provokes, and speaks of the hatred of the left before we even know if it is ever a murder. Thus it sows discord, and helps to polarize and provoke. A Storting politician must do the opposite. It must contribute to order and security, not to insecurity, insecurity and influence the work of the police. He’s on a berry trip, says Eide.

I don’t want to speculate

TV 2 has tried to contact politicians from the justice commission of various parties, but several do not want to comment on Amundsens.

Conservative justice spokesman Peter Christian Frølich told TV 2 that he does not intend to speculate in an unsolved investigation and believes that the police should have peace at this initial phase.

Red leader Bjørnar Moxnes has not responded to TV 2 inquiries.

– Incredibly irresponsible

Amundsen’s statement has received backlash on social media.

One of those reacting is the editor of Nettavisen Filter Nyheter, Harald Klungtveit. He writes extensively on far-right circles and has covered various Sian rallies.

– It is incredibly irresponsible for the former Norwegian Justice Minister to speculate on a politically motivated attack in a case where there is currently no basis for it, he writes on Twitter.

Klungtveit said earlier Sunday that as of now, according to his information, there is nothing to indicate that what happened is politically motivated.

At the beginning of the investigation

Police were notified of the death at 1:17 p.m. on Saturday. The man’s relatives were notified later that day.

– Observations made at the scene led to the death being considered suspicious, says police prosecutor Henrik Bjugan Hegdahl in the Agder police district at a press conference on Sunday.

The police lawyer says that the police have obtained clues and information that they find interesting.

– In such an initial phase, it is natural to go further and work based on a series of hypotheses. One of the hypotheses in this case is that this person has been subjected to a serious criminal relationship, and that as a result of the criminal relationship has died, he says.

It will not comment if they suspect that the deceased is the victim of a serious crime with political motive.
