On Sunday night, a house fire broke out in the center of Mosjøen, and the house quickly caught fire.

– There are two pieces that we believe are located in the house, which have not been accounted for. A third person who is also in the home has been taken to the hospital, in addition to a person who was in the area and assisted in rescue efforts to get the person out of the home, Operations Manager Kenneth Magnussen told 05.15 hours.

Two people died

On Sunday, the Nordland Police District issued a tragic press release.

– Two people have been found dead in the house that burned down last night in Mosjøen. There is reason to believe that the two who have been found are the two who were previously missing. Police have been in contact with family members and informed them about this, says Operations Manager Tommy Bech.

The man who was rescued from the fire is seriously injured and is receiving medical follow-up at Tromsø University Hospital.

– A fourth person, who picked up the injured, was also sent to the local hospital for a check-up, but was discharged, says Bech.

Meticulous work

The police have launched an investigation.

– We are in the process of questioning witnesses and will eventually do technical investigations at the scene, says Tommy Bech.

– We are interested in contacting people who may have made observations at the Tordenskjolds Gate House in Seven Eleven in relation to the fire. We are also interested in movies and photos of the fire, he adds.
