On Friday, Russian publisher and opposition leader Irina Slavina set herself on fire in front of the Nizhny Novgorod city police station.
Her husband Alexei Murakhtayev has confirmed that the dead woman is Slavina, reports RIA Novosti.
Slavina was the founder and editor-in-chief of the online newspaper koza.press, with the subtitle “Uncensored Nizhny Novgorod News”.
He left a message on Facebook that said:
– I ask that the Russian Federation be blamed for my death.

Slavina set herself on fire in front of the department of the Interior Ministry on Maksim Gorky Street in Nizhny Novgorod. This corresponds to the Norwegian police station. She refused the help of a man who tried to save her from the flames and died from her injuries.
