Harry Wilson failed when Liverpool cared most. Regardless, experts believe that he may now end up at the club.

LIVERPOOL – ARSENAL 0-0 (Str: 4-5):

Arsenal advance to the League Cup quarter-finals after Liverpool were beaten on penalties after a goalless draw at Anfield on Thursday.

When Harry Wilson missed Liverpool’s sixth penalty, Joe Willock was able to send Arsenal 4-5 on penalties.

Disappointing Wilson: – There is hardly any future here

There have been high expectations for Wilson, after the Liverpool player has delivered good performances and fantastic loan goals at clubs like Derby and Bournemouth in recent seasons.

On Thursday, the 23-year-old finally managed to start a game for Liverpool, unable to make a mark on the deal against Arsenal.

Former Liverpool player Stephen Warnock believes the match may have been one of Wilson’s last in Liverpool kits.

– I think Wilson will be loaned or sold. I do not see that he has a future at Liverpool. It’s just not at that level, Warnock said during the game on the BBC.

If one believes the generally well-informed James Pearce at The Athletic, Burnley hopes to sign the Welshman before the transfer window closes.

Burnley has been in talks to sign him, but his offer of £ 12 million, plus an additional £ 4 million, was not enough to meet Liverpool’s demands, Pearce writes on Twitter.

Leno in the impossible corner

A lot of time passed between the big chances in Thursday’s game. In fact, the spectators had to wait until overtime first to get their first big chance of the match.

Neco Williams crosses into Diogo Jota’s free kick area. Goalkeeper Bernd Leno was prevented, but only hit the ball into the legs of Takumi Minamino, who widened the ball off the crossbar.

Early in the second half, Marko Grujic had several good chances to lead Liverpool in the lead, but Leno kept one save after another. He did the same when Jota arrived alone after an hour of play.

Jürgen Klopp chose to start with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk in Thursday’s match, but after 60 minutes, the Liverpool manager decided enough was enough and pulled the star duo off the field in favor of Divock Origi and Joe Gomez.

In extra time, Arsenal players screamed for a penalty kick after James Milner slipped out of the area and struck the ball with his arm twice.

However, referee Kevin Friend kept the whistle in hand, so it was all decided on a penalty kick.
