  • Liverpool 0-0 Arsenal, 4-5 after penalties

Bernd Leno made many great saves in the game and two on penalties when Arsenal expelled Liverpool from the League Cup.

Arsenal won after a goalless game at Anfield and took revenge for a penalty shootout in the same tournament last year. Leno saved shots from Divock Origi and Harry Wilson on penalties. Adrian saved Mohamed Elneny’s shot and almost saved Joseph Willocks as well, but the ball went to 5-4.

Arsenal goalkeeper Leno kept the team in the game with a series of great saves as Liverpool threatened to repeat Monday’s clear home win in the Premier League. Last year it finished 5-5 when the same clubs met in the league cup, this time scoreless.

Liverpool also made nine changes from Monday’s game, Arsenal eight.

Diogo Jota started with Liverpool for the first time and could quickly become a match winner if it weren’t for Lenovo’s great game. Arsenal had their chances too, and Rob Holding nodded almost unhindered towards the end of the match, but Adrian saved.

It was the fourth meeting of the two clubs in 11 weeks. Arsenal won the Premier League this summer and a penalty at the Community Shield in August.
