The choice of topic during Tuesday’s NRK debate provokes reactions. Host Fredrik Solvang dismisses the criticism.

In the Laila Anita Bertheussen trial, there have been many details about printers, markers, sheets, and chat groups. On Tuesday, NRK Debatten and host Fredrik Solvang walked in to summarize the trial.

In the study, there were several commentators who have followed the trial closely.

– Extremely strange?

But many reacted on social media to the choice of the topic: that is, an ongoing criminal case.

– Isn’t this an extremely strange subject? An ongoing lawsuit over #nrkdebatt? I think something violent is growing, writes a man on Twitter.

He is supported by publications editor Anders Heger.

It’s probably going fine, but I can’t help but think that roadside coverage is one thing, but then it’s a little weird to have a * talk show * about a criminal case being prosecuted. writes Heger on Twitter.

Host Fredrik Solvang introduced the discussion by saying it was a summary and not a discussion. This is also how he argues with critics on both Facebook and Twitter.

Several respond that NRK has chosen to “debate” an ongoing lawsuit. Several point out that the “fourth state power” (the press) interferes with what the third state power is doing.

Difficult questions about group chat

The Filter Nyheter website has chosen to post several of the messages from a chat group on Messenger, which consisted, among others, of Rita Karlsen from the Human Rights Service, Ingvil Smines Tybring-Gjedde, a former minister and Bertheussen himself. Several of the chat group members have dismissed it as nonsense.

The post has also sparked a debate on privacy. Solvang asked journalist Jonas Skybakmoen on the website about the post.

– You can also discuss whether the messages are private, because they deal with a case, said Skybakmoen.

Solvang stopped with:

– Because you have washed the talks, among other things, for nonsense and nonsense. Eliminated recipes for cakes and other delicacies. Why did you do that?

– Cake recipes have not been part of the prosecution’s evidence, Skybakmoen said.

– Does it give us the wrong image if you eliminate everything that is nonsense, as they say it was?

– We have published 350 messages. We believe this contributes to sufficient context for readers to make their own interpretation.

– But there was a context here, right?

– Yes, and we have taken the context. We have provided the context for the messages in the case.

At the end of the debate, journalist Jonas Skybakmoen said that he responded to Ingvil Smine’s Tybring-Gjedde call to get to the bottom of the media sources who have published these reports.

– Shows a lack of understanding of roles on their part. The press must control the other state powers, he said.
