The Bodø / Glimt duo Jens Petter Hauge (20) and Patrick Berg (22) have been selected for the Norwegian national team.

– It has developed very fast. Play in a very good team. What makes it more interesting is the type of game it is. She’s got a bit of an x factor, and we don’t have a lot of those players. It feels good to take it with you, says national team manager Lars Lagerbäck of Jens Petter Hauge.

Hauge has previously been a regular part of the U21 national team, but can now be with the A national team. Berg was allowed to join the previous team for matches against Austria and Northern Ireland.

Jens Petter Hauge will give a press conference in Aspmyra at 11:45 am. TV 2 updates with an interview from there.

Coventry player Leo Skiri Østigård (20) is also with the A national team for the first time.

This is the squad

Guardians: Rune Almenning Jarstein, Ørjan Håskjold Nyland and André Hansen.

Defending: Kristoffer Ajer, Haitam Aleesami, Omar Elabdellaoui, Martin Linnes, Birger Meling, Tore Reginiussen, Sigurd Rosted, Stefan Strandberg, Jonas Svensson, and Leo Skiri Østigård.

Midfield: Patrick Berg, Sander Berge, Mohamed Elyounoussi, Markus Henriksen, Stefan Johansen, Fredrik Midtsjø, Mathias Normann, Morten Thorsby, and Martin Ødegaard.

Attack: Erling Braut Haaland, Jens Petter Hauge, Joshua King, and Alexander Sørloth.

Martin Ødegaard returns to the squad after beating the previous one due to injury. 26 players have been called out to games. It is the largest squad that Lars Lagerbäck has produced as coach of the national team.

– I think it has been approved in the games it has played. I didn’t expect anything else so fast. He has come to a new environment and a great club. I spoke to him after the first match, says Lagerbäck about Ødegaard.

Up to three international matches will be played during the next national team meeting. The first to come out is the important playoff game against Serbia to be played on October 8. After this, two League of Nations settlements await, first Romania, then Northern Ireland.

– It will be a little special. We were supposed to meet them half a year ago and we had very good control over them. They have eliminated 30 players in their troop, and they are mostly the same ones we expected to find in March, says assistant Per Joar Hansen.
