On Saturday night, emergency services responded to a fire in a garage in Eide, where two cars and a caravan are said to have caught fire inside a garage.
The fire was reported in Sandhaugsbakken at 6.30pm, and people in the nearest house were asked to evacuate.
– An explosive sound is heard. Propane is stored in the garage, Møre og Romsdal police report on Twitter.
At 7:00 p.m., the police report that the fire brigade has begun to extinguish at the scene, and that the closest building is approx. 10 meters away.
– From now on, there is no danger of spread. There is a lot of wind and smoke on the site and the window is requested to be closed, it is said.
At 7.15 pm, the Police report that the residents closest to the scene of the fire have been evacuated and that there is no need to evacuate other homes at the moment.
– There have been strong blows, but the probability that the propane bottles have melted is considered high, says the operations center.
– Many of the flames have been extinguished and there should be no danger of them spreading, it says in the twitter message.
