SCRANTON / WILKES-BARRE (Aftenposten): Joe Biden grew up in what may be the most important seesaw state of the election. Democrats hope it will give them an advantage in the fight for the White House.

Joe Biden was only ten years old when he moved here. Still, he talks about Scranton as often as he can. He describes the city as “home” when he visits it.

The ramshackle industrial city is a central part of the 77-year-old man’s political image as a defender of the middle class and workers.

– When you’re a kid in Scranton, no matter how long you live here, the city saw a part of you, Biden said in a speech last fall.

Not everyone buys it.

– I discovered that I had to come here and tell you one thing: he left! It failed Pennsylvania. He failed Scranton, thundered Donald Trump in a speech in August.
