Actor Dax Shepard (45) has been a big name in Hollywood for several years and has been seen in various roles on the movie screen. However, he is equally known for being married to actress Kristen Bell (40), and together they are one of the most popular couples in film city.
In recent years he has had great success with the podcast “Armchair Expert”, where he invites famous names to talk about life. The actor has previously stated that the goal of the podcast is to give guests an “experience of being in an AA meeting (Alcoholics Anonymous journaln.anm.) Without having to be an alcoholic,” according to the LA Times.

The 45-year-old has been very open on several occasions about his own challenges with drug addiction, where he was addicted to alcohol and cocaine for several years.
Recently, however, he was able to celebrate 16 years sober, and has even claimed that he has not touched any type of drug since 2005.
However, in a new episode of the podcast, which has been dubbed “Day 7,” he says this is no longer the case, according to, among others, CNN and People.
Fought addiction
“An episode that I never thought I would have to record,” reads part of the episode’s description in a post on Instagram. There, the 45-year-old man says he has been battling addiction for a long time, after taking painkillers.
Eight years ago he was in a motorcycle accident that resulted in injuries that required pain relief. However, the drug was administered in controlled ways, by both the doctor and his wife, and it shouldn’t have caused any problems in the first place, according to Good Morning America.
She claims she was abused in porn movies
However, that was until August of this year. The 45-year-old man then suffered a serious ATV accident, which caused a fracture in four ribs and a hand. Later, the actor was prescribed a pain reliever.
– A huge secret
And this is where things should have gotten out of hand for the actor. The pills were taken every day, often in higher doses than recommended, and when he couldn’t prescribe more pills, he got his own.
– I took large amounts every day and I know that it is an amount that will cause severe withdrawal. I was terrified and lonely. He had a big secret, he says, adding that he should have tried to quit smoking, but failed.

It was then that he is said to have confessed everything to his wife, as well as to actress Monica Padman, with whom he has the podcast.
He describes the celebration of 16 years as sober as “the worst hour of his life.” In fact, the 45-year-old was high on painkillers during the celebration.
Sober for seven days
In the very candid conversation, he further admits that it was not only his own ego that made it difficult to be honest, but also that he has been so open about sobriety in the media. He was also afraid of how it would affect his wife.
Star reveals drug abuse
– Kristen doesn’t deserve that the next six months will consist of interviews where she should say “Oh, Dax had a relapse.” It doesn’t feel fair to anyone, it isn’t. I’m sorry and I’m ashamed to have put other people in this situation, says the 45-year-old.
The episode was recorded on September 21. Shepard had been sober for seven days after the relapse.
Together for 13 years
Kristen Bell has yet to comment on the episode. However, she has shared an Instagram story, where both her and her husband and the episode are mentioned.
Although Bell is known for, among others, “Veronica Mars”, “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “Frost”, he has played roles in series such as “Parenthood” and “Punk’d.”
The couple met at a birthday party and began dating in 2007. In 2010, they got engaged, but decided to wait to get married until same-sex marriage was legal in California.
After being engaged for three years, the Hollywood stars opted to say “yes” in a simple ceremony in a Beverly Hills office in 2013.
Together they have daughters Lincoln Bell Shepard (5) and Delta Bell Shepard (4).
