Late on Friday night Norwegian time, there were reports that Republican politicians were expecting Trump to announce Barrett as his pick on Saturday. Various media outlets, including the New York Times and Fox News, report that the decision has been made and that it will be Barrett.

Fox News writes that Trump will try to get the Senate pass it before Election Day in November. Barrett has already been identified as the Conservatives’ darling, and his election will significantly shake the balance of power on the Supreme Court.

Amy Coney Barrett was born and raised near New Orleans, Louisiana. She is known as an active and enthusiastic Catholic and has seven children. Two of them have been adopted from Haiti.

The 48-year-old is popular with abortion opponents and is a very conservative lawyer, writes the Washington Post. Previously, it has also distinguished itself in cases that, among other things, affect gun legislation.

Barrett was in a meeting with the president at the White House on Wednesday, and there is said to have convinced Trump that she is the woman for the job. According to sources from the New York Times, no one else has been interviewed for the position.

There was a vacancy on the Supreme Court after Ruth Bader Ginsburg (87) died last week. This is Trump’s third Supreme Court justice appointment.
