Born Free requires payment to respond to charges

Lawyer Harald F. Strandenæs demands on behalf of the Født Fri foundation that a grant of three million crowns still be paid.

According to the lawyer, it will be impossible for the foundation to respond to an audit report from the consultancy Ernst & Young without this payment, because it has had to lay off all employees and cancel all projects, writes VG.

On Monday, it was announced that the government will cut support for the foundation after the audit report showed a lack of financial management and that some of the support may have been used for private purposes.

The second of two parts of this year’s support from the Integration and Diversity Directorate (IMDi) has been halted based on this report, but the lawyer still demands that the funds be available. He believes that IMDi chose to retain the last term of support even before the audit report was ordered.

Born Free believes the report contains a number of errors and has been given an October 6 deadline to respond.
