Many young people have been robbed at the Strømmen shopping center this year, a mother tells Romerikes Blad. In the son’s circle of friends alone, there have been six robberies, says the mother.
– About 30 children follow and surround a person and threaten to remove him from the center. There they are threatened with physical violence if they do not give up what the gang wants. No wonder they dare not say no, says a concerned mother to Romerikes Blad.
According to his mother, her son, who had a value of 3,000 crowns stolen, is severely affected.
– I’m really sorry for what you’ve been exposed to. This is not part of the safe society we are a part of and I am afraid of development, he says.
He says he knows of six robberies in his son’s circle of friends in Strømmen. The gangs have threatened children to keep them from saying anything, and she fears that many parents do not know about the problem. The police confirm that many do not dare to speak.
– We work for safe and good environments for young people, so we take ourselves very seriously, says the police superintendent and the police contact in the preventive section of the municipality of Lillestrøm, Inger Marthe Gelius.
The center’s director, Per Kristian Trøen, says the number of civil and uniformed guards has increased.
– We crack down on larger gatherings, both for infection control reasons and in relation to youth gangs, he says.
