The 180 conversation that took place a couple of weeks before the triple murder on the Orderud estate was a mystery during the investigation of the case. Now a new witness has shed light on the mystery, writes VG.

The information appears in the new book «Orderud – The interrogations. The lies. The new tracks. », Written by VG Øystein Milli crime commentator and journalist Olav Næss.

The telephone conversation and the unknown man calling were a central issue in the twenty-year murder mystery that took place at the family farm at Sørum in Indre Akershus.

The night of the murder

It was the night of May 22, 1999 when Anne Orderud Paust and her parents Kristian and Marie Orderud were shot dead. Four people were convicted of complicity in the killings, including the couple’s son, Per Orderud. In addition, his wife Veronica, his sister Kristin Kirkemo and Lars Grønnerød were sentenced.

A couple of weeks before the murders, a phone call to a 180 operator is said to have been received. A male voice is said to have spoken about Anne Orderud Paust and her parents, and presented several surprising details. The operator of the 180 is said to have personally contacted the police after reading about the Orderud murders.

– The man who called said there would be three murders, says Milli. Together with Olav Næss, he has written the book on the case, which took a new turn in 2018.

– Reinforce the suspicion

A new witness is said to have reported two years ago. The witness is said to have explained that one of the prisoners, Lars Grønnerød, visited him at his car shop in May 1999. One of the 513 phone calls that were investigated came from this shop.

The witness did not appear in 1999, so the telephone conversation was excluded from the case.

For VG, investigator Tore Kampen confirms that a witness has provided new information.

– Contains information that reinforces the suspicion against Lars Grønnerød as the 180-year-old man, says Kampen on VG’s Krimpodden podcast.

Lars Grønnerød was released from prison in 2013 and died on September 12, 2019.
