Earlier today, a man in his 30s was arrested in the Spydeberg center, after police received multiple reports that the man was carrying a weapon.

According to police, he was holding a 9mm pistol that was loaded when he was arrested.

– The man should not have used the gun in a threatening way, but just walking around with a gun is enough to make people feel unsafe, Operations Manager Terje Skaftnes in the East Police District told VG.

It is said that the arrest was not dramatic, but the police armed themselves during the operation.

Shortly after, the man told him on questioning that he was also in possession of explosives, reports the chief of police duty at the scene, Sindre Dahlstrøm.

Police moved into the man’s home and evacuated four nearby houses.

– Now we are waiting for the help of national assistance resources in the Oslo bomb squad, operations manager Skaftnes tells NRK.

It was Smaalenenes Avis who first reported on the evacuation.
