One of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the US is now entering its final testing phase and can probably deliver a surprise.

NEW YORK (Nettavisen): The Johnson & Johnson company is one of many pharmaceutical companies in the US that are now working with a vaccine, but now they stand out because they are working with a vaccine that probably only needs one dose, and not two, the New York Times reports.

– Does not need to freeze

Unlike some of the competitors, Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine does not need to be frozen and may require only one syringe instead of two, the newspaper writes.

The newspaper also writes that although the company is a few months behind other US companies in reaching phase 3 trials, the Johnson & Johnson trials will be the largest, where they have plans to test the vaccine on 60,000 participants.

Doctor: – Fantastic

“It would be great if we had something in one dose,” Dr. Judith Feinberg, deputy director of medical research at West Virginia University, tells the newspaper.

Feinberg tells the New York Times that it is only a phase 3 test, comparing the effect of a vaccine to a placebo, which will be able to determine if it lasts with a single dose.

The doctor says that if this turns out to be sufficient, it could increase the speed to slow the pandemic.

Trump applauds

The final testing phase began Monday, and Johnson & Johnson’s chief science officer, Dr. Paul Stoffels, says the company will be able to determine during the year whether the vaccine is safe and effective.

The New York Times news cheers on President Trump.

– Great news. Many large companies get amazing results. @FDA must act fast! the president writes on Twitter Wednesday, about the New York Times news.

“Historic progress” with three candidate vaccines

Last week, Trump claimed that “historic progress” has been made with three candidate vaccines that are in the final stages of development and testing. At least 200 million doses can be produced by the end of the year, he says.

“Several hundred million doses will be available each month and we hope to have enough vaccines for all Americans in April,” Trump said, according to NTB.
