Ian Wright was not kind to Manchester United’s blocks after the loss to Crystal Palace, and believes Solskjær should focus on getting a defender.

Manchester United had the worst possible start to the season, when Crystal Palace got too strong at Old Trafford on Saturday night.

Roy Hodgson’s men took advantage of the home team’s mistakes and returned to London with a solid 3-1 victory.

In hindsight, criticism has come in quickly from various quarters, and now a former Arsenal star is jumping on the wave.

Harsh criticism

Ian Wright was a goal scorer and took advantage of weak defensive play even when he was active for Arsenal and Crystal Palace, among others.

Now he believes there are reasons for concern for Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s men.

– For me, it’s obvious that you put your attacking game against Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelöf as much as possible, Wright tells Premier League Productions.

In addition, he believes that there should be no doubts about which position the great club should strengthen.

– People talk about attacking players having to come in, but right now they have to focus on midfield. They need to start figuring out how to solve that problem there.

– Stop talking about Sancho

According to Wright, it can be difficult with titles as United is now.

– It’s just not good enough, if you’re going to fight for things. Lindelöf and Maguire, they are not good enough.

The former Arsenal striker sees no point in bringing an offensive attack force, with the problems that one has behind.

– What’s the point of talking about Jadon Sancho? If one got up with Sancho, but still ended up with two midfielders at stake for Crystal Palace, he concludes.
