The Medieval City of Oslo Foundation was established at the initiative of the Medieval-Oslo association, which is led by former Liberal leader Odd Einar Dørum.

Dissemination
The politician interested in politics, who has been both Minister of Culture and Minister of Education, is a resident of the old town.
– Communicate history, take care of it and contribute to the awareness that in Oslo we have this updated history, it is important. Knowledge of history helps create belonging for all who live in a city in which 50 percent of us were not born, he says.
Grande will be appreciated as a Liberal leader at this weekend’s national gathering. Next fall, he will also end up as a parliamentary representative from Oslo. Reconstruction
The purpose of the foundation is “to create experiences and dissemination that can provide all residents with knowledge about the first urban community of Oslo”. Raising funds for reconstruction and ensuring “historic use” will be a major task.
Among the first projects for which funds will be raised is the reconstruction of at least one apartment building from the Middle Ages and the visibility of the network of streets of the medieval city.

Other measures that may be relevant include rebuilding a port facility at Vannspeilet in the Medieval Park and creating a 3D graphics system that can recreate Oslo’s living environment from when the city in the 14th century was more powerful, says a statement from foundation press.

According to the foundation, it is urgent to raise funds to rebuild parts of the medieval city of Oslo, which archaeologists since the 19th century have called “Nordic Pompeii.” It shows that when the Follobanen tunnel is ready in two years, the Medieval Park will be about twice as large as it is today.

Many of the developers also have a desire to make the Medieval Park more interesting, with more activities, to prevent it from becoming a dead park area, says Grande, who in his days in Oslo politics was instrumental in bringing the Øya festival to the Medieval Park.
Among those behind the foundation are investor Christian Ringnes, Medieval Oslo leader Odd Einar Dørum, and former Oslo mayor Per Ditlev-Simonsen.
In addition to Grande, the board is made up of Hanne Herrman (director of Viken Folkeakademi), Inger Karlberg (former director of the East Office of the National Heritage Board), Målfrid Nyrnes (former unit chief of the Oslo Planning and Construction Agency) , Lars Windfeldt (investor), Leif Gjerland (story communicator) and Sverre Landmark (investor).
