The Swedish cross country star arrived with a clear message to Petter Northug on Monday, writes Dagbladet. Karlsson is reported to have told Swedish TT that he will continue the sponsorship deal he has with Petter Northug. It is sponsored by the Northug eyewear brand.

– I have said that he will do what he can to find happiness and have a good time, says the 21-year-old to the Swedish telegram agency TT.

Despite recent events, he wants to stick to the deal.

– It feels good. We have had a good and close collaboration, he tells TT.

It was August 31 when Northug is said to have driven at 200 kilometers per hour. I was on my way to a ski school in Trysil. Ten grams of cocaine were later found in the former cross-country skier’s apartment. It was first suggested that Northug was driving under the influence, which would have been crucial for Karlsson.

– It was important to me that he was clean when he got in the car. It influenced my decision, says Karlsson.

The Northug investigation is in the closing phase and he is said to have admitted to driving 200 kilometers per hour.
