Install speedboats and ferries, flying trampolines and overturned garbage cans on the streets.

Monday morning started with excellent weather in parts of the Norwegian coastline.

In some places in Nordland, up to 100 millimeters of precipitation have been forecast for one day. NVE has also issued a warning about the danger of floods and landslides.

E6 is now closed at Storforshei north of Helgeland in Nordland due to heavy rains. At the same time, the ferries of the fv. 17 canceled by strong winds.

Therefore, Norway is divided in two.

Update the hazard warning

And it’s going to get worse. At least a little further north.

In Nordland and Troms, an orange hazard warning was posted Monday morning. A full storm is expected and gusts can reach 35 meters per second.

– We expect a full storm, both in northern Nordland and Sør-Troms, and the situation is serious enough to upgrade to an orange hazard warning, reports service meteorologist Gjermund Haugen.

High water level and lots of rain.

On Monday afternoon, it is expected to be 40 to 60 cm above the height indicated in the tide tables.

– Now it’s up and running, says on-duty meteorologist Pernille Borander.

She says it’s just a matter of preparing for the next 24 hours.

– Over the course of a day, up to 70-100 millimeters of rain is expected in 24 hours. Therefore, a high water hazard warning has been issued. Combined with high water levels and strong winds coming in directly, waves of 30 to 40 feet inland are expected at Vestfjord and Lofoten.

Mosjøen’s Margareth Berentzen was one of those who got off to a somewhat rough start on Monday.

– We went outside and saw that a neighborhood trampline had blown up and hit both of them the cars that were parked in the driveway, says Berentzen.

Increases throughout the day

From this afternoon there will be a total storm in the north. There is a risk of locally very strong gusts, with a lot of rain. And for those who are going to climb the hill; Snow is expected at more than 800 meters.

The storm has already had consequences:

• Five of the six ferry connections on fv. 1 7 have been canceled (Forøy-Ågskardet, Tjøtta-Forvik, Levang-Nesna, Horn-Andalsvåg and Kilboghavn-Jektvik)
• Sambandet Bognes-Lødingen på rv. 85 is configured.
• The same applies to the Svolvær-Skrova connection on fv. 81.
• The Bodø-Moskenes connection on rv. 80 is set. The same applies to Festvåg-Misten north of Bodø.

Warns of a lot of water on the roads

From Monday night and Tuesday morning, the snow line north of Nordland is expected to drop to 600 meters.

Vegtrafikksentralen asks people who are going to drive through Saltfjellet and Beiarfjellet to be prepared for the winter weather.

Traffic operator Håvard Langmo at the Road Traffic Center for Northern Norway says it has not snowed so far, but road users should drive carefully due to the rain.

– With so much rain, a lot of water is deposited on the road, it is clear that you have to drive carefully. Especially where it crawls. There may also be a bush or a tree on the road due to the wind.

On the E6 north of Mo i Rana, the road is closed in Storforshei due to flooding.

On the E6 at Grane south of Nordland, earlier today a tree crossed the road about a kilometer south of Trofors and blocked the southbound lane.

Also on the E6 in Falmo south of Mosjøen, there have been reports of trees or bushes on the road blocking a lane.

Langmo says that at Glomfjord in Meløy there have been reports of heavy water on the road and rockslide from the mountainside. Fv. 17 was closed for a period between Glomfjord and Selstad due to the danger of landslides.

Motorhomes and caravans should be kept away from bridges

As for the bridges in Nordland, so far no one is closed, but people should be careful.

– In Helgelandsbrua there is a sign with strong wind. There is an average wind of 20m / s blowing right now, so it will probably shake fine. It is preferable that the motorhomes and caravans have not finished like now. You must respect the signs if the bridge closes.

Also in western Norway, the storm creates traffic problems. The Rugsund Bridge in Sogn og Fjordane is now closed due to strong gusts of wind.

Narvik Township Emergency Director Iris Bartholsen has sent a warning to the Township Crisis Management and asked them to stay alert following the forecast of rainfall for Narvik in the last 24 hours. Write Ahead.
