– There is a sea of danger warnings. There are many weather events to keep track of for the next 24 hours, state meteorologist Charalampos Sarchosidis tells Dagbladet.
In Nordland and Troms, a yellow hazard warning was issued for both heavy gusts and heavy rain. When it comes to wind gusts, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute has chosen to raise the hazard warning from yellow to orange.
– A storm is already blowing in Nordland, there is a small storm on the coast. This afternoon will blow even more. A full storm is expected in Lofoten and Vesterålen.
The meteorologist explains that in Lofoten, Ofoten, Vesterålen and Nord-Salten wind gusts of 30-35 meters per second are expected towards land. Also, it will rain a lot.
– In Troms, 40-70 millimeters of rain are expected and up to 100 millimeters in Nordland. Consideration is being given to whether the hazard warning should be adjusted upward during the day, Sarchosidis says.

Cancel ferries
The state meteorologist says gusts of wind and rain contribute to high water levels along the Finnmark coast and north of Nordland.
– There are very high waves on the northern coast of Norway. There are waves of 10 meters high north of Nordland and waves of up to 12 meters high in Lofoten.
This means that much of the ship traffic is canceled. According to NRK, only two ferries operate. These are Bognes-Skarberget and Drag-Kjøpsvik.
– We have received many calls from people wondering if they should cancel boat trips, says the meteorologist.

– It is whether people stay along the coast or at the water’s edge. You shouldn’t be on a boat today. There are wind forces and it gets stronger during the day. Inland, trees can tip over and objects can fly. You have to secure loose items, says Sarchosidis.

Nordland Police encourage you to secure loose items around houses and in the yard as soon as possible.
– The weather’s already good outside, and it will get worse. Strong winds can also cause bridges and stretches of roads to close on short notice, police write on Twitter.
At 09.20, the police were notified that a bus was leaving the road in Meløy. Nobody was hurt.

Meteorologist Charalampos Sarchosidis says he still doesn’t just have bad news to bring. In Tafjord on Møre og Romsdal, it was 20 degrees on Monday morning.
