The ship was heading from Turku to Stockholm on Sunday morning when it ran aground.

– It has been heard on the radio, but it is in Finland, so it is not in our area, informs the newspaper the press phone of the maritime and air rescue center, Marit Visser.

– If they need our help, we will help them, he says.

I have problems browsing

The ship has capacity for 2,400 passengers.

– There are 207 passengers and 74 crew on board. We have offered a helicopter from Stockholm to help, so we are prepared if Finland needs help, says Lars Antonsson on the press phone of the air rescue center to TV 2.

To Aftonbladet, Jan Nemlander of the Western Finland Maritime Rescue Center is told that at this point it appears that they have to evacuate all the passengers.

– We have the first units in place, as well as several ships around, so we are ready, he tells the newspaper.

The Finnish Coast Guard will now evacuate all passengers, writes Expressen.

Nemlander says the ship must have run aground, but there is no risk of sinking. There should be no injuries either.

The Åland radio is informed that the ship had problems while sailing and ran aground to avoid entering water.

There were riots

Expressen has spoken with one of the passengers on board, Eva Vaihinen. She heard a sharp sound as the ship ran aground.

– I looked out the window and saw that we were very close to an island.

He says it calmly for so long, but there was something disturbing before the alarm went off.

– At first I was a bit uncomfortable before the alarm went off, then there were some who were scared. Now everyone is calm and waiting. I guess they haven’t yet mapped how big the damage is, he says.

According to the newspaper, all passengers must be gathered on deck with life jackets. No one can go back to their rooms.

The case is being updated.
