Molde suffered their fifth straight away loss in the Eliteserien after Saturday’s loss in Oslo.

VÅLERENGA-MOLDE 2-1

INTILITY ARENA (Nettavisen): Vålerenga continues his good form at home. On Saturday they got three new points after a victory against Molde.

Vidar Örn Kjartansson continued his wild scoring effort as he threw the ball into goal after 21 minutes.

In addition to the 30-year-old’s goal, he also missed a penalty after Molde was reduced to ten men at the start of the second half.

Just before the end, Aron Dønnum doubled the lead and put the final result in favor of the home team.

Molde got a reduction in the last second of the game without success.

– Don’t have that impression yourself

With one more man, Vålerenga finally had plenty of room to fight back. Especially in the second half, Dønnum had several good situations in which he was able to prepare his teammates, but instead chose to go all the way himself.

After the game, Nettavisen asked if the 22-year-old was really looking to make the scorers list for Saturday’s game.

– I don’t have that impression either, but you have to shoot to score. So it was good to get it in the end, says Dønnum laughing at Nettavisen.

Vålerenga’s offensive jewel claims that his teammates did not arrive with any message, as on several occasions he shot both outside, in the Molde block and at his own teammates instead of passing the ball to the available teammates.

– They don’t say anything. I have to be careful who I tell things to. I didn’t feel like it was obvious that there should be something other than shooting myself to play for. In the end, the score also came, smile.

As Dønnum continues to post about his own performance, coach Dag-Eilev Fagermo arrives and chimes in for the interview.

– What is dangerous today is that you show intelligence. Instead of burning yourself, you are smart. He sees clubs, you know, not good, Fagermo tells Nettavisen in clear reference to the documented interest of clubs abroad, knowing that the scorer is quickly lost if he continues like this.

Fagermo himself believes that “he hasn’t yelled at Dønnum once after he took over at Vålerenga.”

– Aaron is amazing. We need players who have the x factor. Same with Osame. Aron is quiet a bit because I want him to threaten a little more, says Fagermo and admits that his earlier comment was said with a twinkle in his eye.

Beside him is a smiling Dønnum listening.

– Then it’s really impossible to stop him. He has very good individual skills, but he is also fast and strong. He uses it very little and that is the step where we can give him a little more. If he gets even more badass starting without a ball, he’ll be complete, says Fagermo.

– Maybe you don’t want me to take that step and then I can quickly disappear from here?

– Yes, I will do it. But I’d like to hold her until we win something here. I also understand that this is the case, but now he will sign a new five-year contract, concludes Fagermo with a laugh.

The home team immediately took over the home game in Oslo on Saturday. Led by a fresh Dønnum, Vålerenga launched several dangerous little attacks from the right in the opening minutes.

Molde, on the other hand, put almost the entire team in their own half of the field. After eleven minutes, they got the ball on the ground and put pressure on Vålerenga off balance.

Eirik Ulland Andersen charged down the left and had a wonderful opportunity to score the equalizer for fc, but the shot went just wide of goal.

A little warning about what was to come.

The next minute, Fredrik Aursnes struck from afar. Goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson got into trouble and barely tipped the ball over the goal and into the corner.

Ulland Andersen got another great chance for Molde in the 14th minute. The winger picked up the casualty after a long play, but the shot sent him depressurized a few meters above the goal.

After the home team’s fresh start, Molde finally pushed Vålerenga back onto the pitch. Sheriff Sinyan also stabbed the ball just outside the post after a corner kick.

Kjartansson again

Then Vålerenga would get the first goal of the match. The home team made a great attack down the right wing.

Christian Borchgrevink found Vidar Örn Kjartansson unmarked completely free inside the area.

At the first touch, the Icelander was relentless again and scored 1-0.

– Ai ai ai ai. You need a touch within 16 meters. It’s almost unreal, Kenneth Fredheim commented on Eurosport.

Tor Ole Skullerud beside him continued:

– Spinning game. Absolutely crazy how it counts. It was the first chance of the night for Kjartansson, created by Borchgrevink.

However, Skullerud reacted to the great freedom of action given to the VIF striker within the Molde area.

Martin Bjørnbak was too far on the mark and was severely punished for it.

– So I have to say that it is very special that he is allowed to stand there around the first post, then only at 16 meters. Get completely pricked without pressure. Then there will be goals, when you meet perhaps the most toxic striker in the Elite Series, he said.

Mold excelled

After the score, Vålerenga had good control over what was happening on his own ground. Led by a very solid Ivan Näsberg for the day in central defense, the home side held up well.

In the 41st minute, Molde took his biggest chance in the match.

A low post from Ulland Andersen found his way to Etzaz Hussain without pressure. Only a good save by Klaesson prevented the visiting team from scoring.

During the break, Molde coach Erling Moe decided to replace Martin Bjørnbak.

– 45 minutes is enough for Martin today. We are good at low pressure so we strive to be aggressive and tall enough, Moe said before the second half.

Red card and lack of penalty

Vålerenga came out in the second half when they started the first. A long ball in the back room against Aron Dønnum created big problems for the Molde defense.

John Kitolano entered the situation too late and had to resort to illegal means in the duel.

Referee Kai Erik Steen pointed to the penalty spot and at the same time showed Kitolano the red card.

The penalty put Kjartansson over the goal.

– It’s anything but cold. Linde chooses a corner early, but Kjartansson throws it over the bar, Fredheim said.

Vålerenga gradually got more good situations and room to counter.

Dønnum had a good chance to attack in the middle, but remembered the instructions to focus on attacks on the wing.

Ohi had a useful opportunity after the middle of the second half. The shot went straight into Klaesson’s lap.

Mathis Bolly had a great opportunity with during the quarter again of the match. The substitute stabbed a post on goal, but Klaesson followed up with a good reaction save.

Dønnum made it 2-0 in the final score in the 83rd minute after a good pass from substitute Bård Finne.

Dønnum also chased after his second goal and squandered a huge opportunity right up the butt. In overtime, Molde reduced to 2-1 by Henry Wingo.

Vålerenga advances with Saturday’s victory to 3rd place in the table, two points behind Molde in silver square.
