This afternoon, the Oslo Police District received information that led to the discovery of a dead adult woman at an address in Oslo.
The death is being investigated as murder and a man has been arrested and charged with murder, the Oslo police write in a press release.
The chief of intelligence and investigation of the Oslo police, Grete Lien Metlid, confirms to Dagbladet that there is a family relationship between the parties.
– It was a woman in her 60s who was found dead. Her son, who is 40, is charged with the murder, Metlid says, adding that she cannot comment on the case at this time.
Message of concern received
– This afternoon, shortly before 5:00 p.m., we received a message of concern from the health service that made us go to an address in Oslo. There we find a grown woman dead, Metlid tells Dagbladet.
– It is the conditions at the scene and other information that led us to launch a murder investigation. We now characterize it as murder, but it is still early in the investigation and there are many unanswered questions, he continues.
Shortly after finding the woman dead, police arrested a man in another part of Oslo.
– This is a Norwegian man, and he’s a defendant in the case, says Metlid.
Waiting for questioning
Marijana Lozic has been named defender of man. She confirms to Dagbladet that she had a long conversation with her client on Friday night.
– Due to the circumstances of the case, we have decided that there will be no interrogations tonight, says Lozic.
How do you respond to the accusation?
– We haven’t discussed it yet. I don’t want to say more than that at the moment, the lawyer tells Dagbladet.
Metlid confirms that an interrogation has been arranged for tomorrow.
