Ole Gunnar Solskjær faced discontent among Manchester United fans at Friday’s press conference.

This summer, several of Manchester United’s fiercest rivals have massively beefed up their squad.

Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon are on their way to Tottenham, Liverpool will bring in Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich, while Chelsea have brought in several superstars.

Manchester United fans have so far had to settle for the signing of Donny Van de Beek from Ajax.

He asked the club’s supporters to be patient.

– Fans will always have the best possible United team to watch. That’s the passion we want, and with the history we have, we can look back 10-20 years and see great players. Since Sir Alex left, we’ve had fifth place on average. Last year we were number four, and I think many saw the team develop, Solskjær replied.

– We want to develop and enter the season with confidence. We always want to give the group a boost, which is why we are working on the case, Solskjær continued.

I would not talk about sancho

The Norwegian was later asked how confident he is of bringing in new players before the transfer window closes on October 5, and was specifically asked about Dortmund player Jadon Sancho.

– We brought Donny (Van de Beek). I am very happy that I brought him in. He is an exceptional, wonderful boy and a very good player who will give us something.

– I cannot say anything about the players of other teams, out of respect for them. I cannot speculate. We understand that to go even further, we must first develop what we have and secondly strengthen the stable. Let’s wait and see if we can get someone to come in. Of course, I have been in dialogue with the club. We discussed the whole page, so let’s see, said Solskjær.

The Norwegian pulled out of Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka as good signings made under his leadership.

On Saturday Manchester United will play their first league game of the season when Roy Hodgson and Crystal Palace meet at Old Trafford at 6.30pm.
