Sharp decline in new infections in Bergen

In the last week, the average has been 28 infections a day in Bergen. On Wednesday, the average was 32.

– This is positive, but it is important to note that there will always be daily variations. So it is too early to say whether this is the start of a downward trend or not, says Councilor Roger Valhammer (Labor).

– In any case, we are glad that the number of new infections today is lower. Not least, this means that our employees today have a little respite, he continues.

The municipality of Bergen has already almost caught up with the backlog in infection detection work. With a new infection tracking system, ReMin, infected people can register their close contacts themselves, and it is also possible to notify people via SMS, when this previously had to be done by manual call.

– If, for example, an infection is detected in a school, in a step or with a teacher, the whole cohort or the parents of the cohort can receive an SMS notification about the quarantine, says Councilor Valhammer.

The newly infected are between 17 and 67 years old, and most are between 21 and 30 years old. Two of the infected are students.

So far, during the corona outbreak, 1,285 infections have been recorded in Bergen.
