Passengers on the Skjeltene-Lepsøy-Haramsøy ferry connection impede legal traffic, according to police.

After the ferry captain contacted the police, 11 of them were taken care of by the police. This is because they did not follow the order of the police.

The Møre og Romsdal police district wrote in a Twitter message at 11 o’clock on Thursday.

Planned action

Operations leader Per Åge Ferstad explains that the incident occurred in connection with the transport of explosives on the ferry.

– In relation to the transport of dynamite on the ferry, there are restrictions on how many passengers can be on the ferry. At Skjeltene, several passengers arrived and we were asked to help them get off the ferry, he says.

Ferstad said this was related to a planned action and that they were aware of the action in advance.

-We were aware that an action was planned and we already had a patrol in the area, ready to help if necessary, he says.

Refusing to straighten out the police

When the police arrived at the ferry, they ordered the passengers to leave. Not everyone would do it right after.

– Some of the passengers got off the ferry when we asked them to do so, but eleven passengers did not. These were then brought ashore by police, staff, and explanations collected and reported, says Ferstad, adding that it all happened in a non-dramatic way.

The dynamite on the ferry was to be transported to Haramsøya in connection with the development of the wind turbine.
