The case is being updated.

SAS did not agree with the pilots on a solution for temporary and permanent outages in the wake of the virus crisis.

Therefore, several hundred lose their jobs.

It was Dagens Næringsliv who mentioned the case for the first time.

– We have had a proposal with the aim of retaining around 300 of the dismissed pilots at SAS. The idea with the proposal was to contribute flexibility in planning and ensure long-term competitiveness and profitability in the future, SAS information manager Jon Eckhoff tells E24.

– We had a deadline of September 8, but the pilot association has chosen not to accept that solution, he continues.

Eckhoff says SAS has been talking about cut measures for a long time.

– We have a long-term plan to save big costs, and all groups in the whole group should contribute to this work. Also the pilots, he says.

– We have had conversations and there have been conversations for a long time. We have a dialogue with all the employees of the group about how we will achieve the objectives of the savings measures that we have, he says.

According to Dagens Næringsliv, the leader Christian Laulund at SAS Pilot Group (SPG), which are four associations under one umbrella, will not give details about the reason why the proposal was rejected.

– SPG has not refused to save parts of redundant pilots in SAS. Rather, we have offered to fund the salaries of many of those laid off. I don’t want to comment on the SAS proposal, Laulund writes in an email to the newspaper.
