The boy is related to a person who tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday last week and has been in quarantine since Friday afternoon. A total of 13 children and 5 employees of the kindergarten are in quarantine.

– Of course it is serious when we have an infection in a kindergarten. At the same time, this is a clear situation. We know of close contacts, and the boy has been in quarantine after it became known that there was an infection in the family, says municipal chief doctor Trond Brattland in Tromsø municipality in a press release Monday night.

Brattland still recommends that parents of children in Polarmåsen who are not close contacts pay special attention for the next two weeks and have their children screened even if they develop very mild symptoms.

Norlandia Polarmåsen Kindergarten is owned by the Norlandia Group. CEO Kari-Anne Gimse says all infection-related precautions have now been taken.

– Parents and employees who are not close contacts are also informed by SMS and email. We have established routines to deal with a situation like this: The entire kindergarten will be closed on Tuesday, to be disinfected and washed, says Gimse.

Eager parents are encouraged to contact the daycare.
