Nordlys – Editor-in-chief leaves iTromsø:

ITromsø editor-in-chief Stig Jakobsen is leaving iTromsø after five years at the newspaper. He writes in Tromsø on his website.

The reason is that Jakobsen will participate in the launch of a new newspaper in Steinkjer.

New newspaper

Polaris Media will establish a new newspaper, as a result of Amedia’s acquisition of Trønder-Avisa earlier this year.

– We will work closely with Adresseavisen and other Polaris newspapers in the region. Steinkjer is somewhat in the same situation as Tromsø, where it has a large regional news site in Trønder-Avisa, in addition to Steinkjeravisa, which it invests heavily as a paper newspaper. We should also be good with local news, but on the other hand be completely digital, Jakobsen tells iTromsø.

– I was involved in the creation of ten different magazines during my time at Bonnier, and it has been a lot of fun being a part of it. And I have never participated in the creation of a new newspaper. Although it may look like this, I’m actually too young to have been part of the Tromsø start-up, laughs the editor-in-chief.

I will not divulge the name

The administrative responsibility for iTromsø will be assumed by someone else, but Jakobsen will not reveal the name yet.

– We have plans on how this will be resolved, and my departure from iTromsø will not be dramatic. iTromsø will continue in the same good shape. I’m absolutely sure of that, says Jakobsen to his old newspaper.

The club leader in iTromsø, Christer Pedersen, says that they have participated in the process, but cannot comment on the process.

– We have a number of processes that need to be considered by the board before they are adopted, so what I can say is limited. I am satisfied with the solutions that have been outlined and have been involved in the process so far, the club leader tells Nordlys.
