The driver was taken to hospital after an accident on the homepage at the Bjerke jogging track.

Det Norske Travselskap’s Secretary General Svein Morten Buer tells VG that they do not yet have a full description of the extent of the damage.

– She was transferred to Ullevål hospital. What I noticed was that she was moving on her arms and legs before being carried, so she was conscious. That’s what I can say for sure right now, so we’ll try to find out more later.

– Had a nasty fall. There is great speed and he hits the ground with his head first. So in that sense, it looked ugly. What is the result, we do not know.

The accident occurred during the Klasseløpshelgen trotting event and caused the trotting event to be postponed.

Communications manager Marius Lundstein describes the course of events as follows:

– Two-crew hook wheels. This results in a driver falling out of the car. Officials and health personnel were present quickly and the driver has now been taken to hospital.

In a video of the broadcast to Rikstoto, it can be seen that a horse first loses speed and is passed by several horses. One of the passages becomes too narrow and the wheels of two crews catch so that the passing crew ends up sideways and the driver, Jane Helen Stareng (59), is thrown off.

According to Trotting and Gallop News, the horse continued to run after the collision, ended up in a fence and received a deep wound.

– The horse got loose for a while before being caught. He was treated immediately by veterinarians and is now being treated at the National Clinic, Bjerke Animal Hospital, Lundstein writes in an SMS to VG.
