The celebration began at 1 pm when Sian’s leader, Lars Thorsen, launched an appeal where he spoke about what the group calls the Islamic problem. At the same time, he criticized the police for allowing disorderly conduct and the counter-protesters for exposing Sian to the “terror of noise”.

Sian stands for Stop the Islamization of Norway.

Barricades had been erected to keep Sian and the counter-protesters apart, and the police had turned up in great numbers.

The counter-protesters shouted slogans, pointed fingers, drummed and shook the barricades, and blew trumpet and recorder to drown the leader of Sian.

The interior police district later reported on Twitter that a person had been abducted for disorderly conduct.

In recent weeks, there has been noise and unrest in connection with various Sian celebrations.

In Bergen, Thorsen was attacked by youths, while the police cracked down on counter-protesters.

In Oslo, Sian’s profile tore Fanny Bråten to pieces and spit out pages of the Koran during a celebration outside the Storting, and 29 protesters were arrested.
