The weekend begins with a clear and different warning from the Meteorological Institute to various parts of the country: – Tie things that are loose and the wind can catch!

– Now it is a low pressure activity, so it is clear that autumn has arrived, says state meteorologist Eldbjørg Moxnes to Nettavisen.

She says there is already rainfall in the west that will eventually spread to most of the country. East Finnmark are the only ones that seem to escape.

It is true that not all areas receive the same amount of precipitation, but in some places you must be very careful.

– Western Norway and southern Stad can reach 120 millimeters during the weekend. In other words, it will be a wet weekend, Moxnes warns.

– May appear abruptly

Vestland County is also the most vulnerable area, and Norway’s Energy and Water Resources Directorate has already issued flood warnings recommending securing and keeping values away from vulnerable places.

In addition to western Norway, there are opportunities for it to become a small storm in Møre og Romsdal, Trøndelag and Nordland.

– There is a strong gale in several places. It’s not that rare this time of year, but much of the country gets a lot of wind this weekend. It can come suddenly, as many are still in a summer mode, Moxnes says.

The Norwegian Meteorological Institute has issued a total of 18 stiff to strong wind hazard warnings, from Lyngør in the south to Bodø in the north.

– Then we recommend that people remember that autumn has arrived and that they should think about tying things that the wind can handle, emphasizes the meteorologist.

Warmer Østafjells

After the rain, the birds sing, the well-known saying goes, and especially Østafjells applies when walking.

Although the Oslo area escapes the worst rains on Friday, the temperature drops several degrees towards the end of the weekend. Then hot air masses come in and the grade can start to smell again in the 20s, according to Moxnes.

– There have been a bit of fluctuations in the forecasts, but it seems that there is a rise in temperature of almost a week. You’ll probably have to get help from the sun if you want to go above 20 degrees, but it looks like it’s hot through Thursday for eastern Norway at least, says the meteorologist on duty.
