A man in his 40s died the night before Friday as a result of injuries sustained in an electric scooter accident Tuesday night. This is confirmed by Folkebladet at the Northern Norwegian University Hospital.

Family members have been notified.

The man has been seriously injured at UNN in Tromsø since Tuesday.

– No witnesses to the incident

The police are investigating the accident and are working on a leading theory that the man has been in an accident with an electric scooter. He was found immediately unconscious and in a bike lane between 150 and 200 meters from the intersection between County Road 86 and County Road 855 in Finnfjordbotn.

On Thursday, Finnsnes Sheriff’s Office Head of Investigation Bjørn Pedersen stated that they are awaiting a technical investigation of the electric scooter. The investigation is carried out by the accident group of the Norwegian Public Roads Administration. The scooter was found alongside the deceased man in his 40s.

Police have requested leads on the case, but have received no inquiries on Thursday from people who have seen the incident.

“We have received no information that anyone witnessed the incident,” Pedersen told Nordlys.

Extensive research

The police, in collaboration with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, have completed extensive investigations at the site where the man was found. The investigations have reinforced the main hypothesis of the police that it was a single accident.

The person who found the man in his 40s unconscious has been questioned by police, investigation leader Pedersen tells police.

– We do extensive research and also look at other possible events, he says.
