Lindsey Graham – Accused of Book Cheating

NEW YORK (Dagbladet): The upcoming book “Rage”, written by the famous journalist Bob Woodward, has already created big problems for the President of the United States. Trump conducted up to 18 interviews with Woodward, but now describes the book as a “political assassination.”

In interviews with Woodward, he already admits on February 7 that he is aware of how deadly and contagious the coronavirus is. In another interview on March 19, Trump admits that he deliberately “mitigates” the danger by not creating panic in the population. Externally, Trump said nothing about it. Instead, he organized large demonstrations and claimed that the virus would “magically” disappear.

– horrible question

However, both political opponents and medical experts believe that Trump has lied to the American people and that this has cost thousands of lives. At the same time, they believe that it has also made the financial suffering greater than necessary.

Almost 200,000 Americans have died from the coronavirus.

– What a terrible question. I did not lie. What I said was that we must be calm, we cannot panic, Trump responded at a very short press conference at the White House on Thursday.

He also claimed that his own handling of the pandemic had been “fantastic.”

Pointing to the senator

Now Trump and his allies are trying to blame others for boxing.

One of Fox News’ allies at Fox News, Tucker Carlson, on Thursday accused Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of being a false Trump supporter.

On his popular conservative show, he rhetorically asks why Trump would sit down with Woodward, who has previously written the highly critical Trump book “Fear.”

– Why the hell would I do that? Well tonight I have a source who knows the answer to that mystery: Lindsey Graham from South Carolina. It was Lindsey Graham who helped convince Donald Trump to talk to Bob Woodward. Lindsey Graham negotiated that meeting. Lindsey Graham was even present during the first interview between Bob Woodward and the president. How did it go? Carlson asks, according to The Hill.

He then listed the countless times Graham harshly criticized Trump in 2016 when they both fought to become the Republican presidential nominee.

– Graham was passionate about virtually all of Donald Trump’s major policy proposals, such as stopping illegal immigration, getting us out of senseless wars, maintaining law and order. Lindsey Graham was against all of this, more than many Democrats. So maybe you already know the answer, says Carlson.

Such are the “love letters”

– Absurd

In recent years, however, Graham has been a very vocal advocate for President Trump. The two have also developed a close relationship and play golf together.

Graham confirms to the AP that he was the one who put Woodward in contact with Trump, but denies doing anything to sabotage Trump.

– I think it is quite absurd to think that President Trump did something he did not want for me or anyone else. “I have more confidence in the president than Tucker Carlson,” Graham told the news agency.

Graham also defends Trump’s handling of the pandemic.

He accused Trump of committing

He accused Trump of making “an Obama-like mistake.” After lunch with the president, he turned around.

– Woodward points out

Trump himself, for his part, believes that Bob Woodward should have said something publicly many months ago if he thought the statements were that bad.

– If you thought it was a bad statement, you should have reported it. He did not report it because he did not think it was wrong. No one thought it was wrong, Trump said at the press conference.

Several others, especially in press circles, have also criticized Woodward for accepting information that Trump deliberately downplayed the severity of the coronavirus until he published a book. Woodward himself defends the decision in an interview with the Washington Post. Woodward believes he needed to give the statements a fuller context than would have been possible in a news article.

– The biggest problem I had, which is always Trump’s problem, is that I didn’t know if it was true. My job is to understand that and hold him accountable, and hold myself accountable, Woodward says.

He says it took him months to understand the context.

– I did my best, says Woodward.
