There have been 42 people infected with the coronavirus in Bergen in the last 24 hours. Several of these are infected by people who have not complied with the quarantine rules.
42 people have been registered infected with the coronavirus in Bergen in the last 24 hours, Councilor Roger Valhammer (Labor Party) said at a press conference on Thursday. 41 are recently infected and one is an old case.
The city council leader further says that several of today’s infected in Bergen are infected by people who have not complied with the quarantine obligation. Encourage people to comply with imposed quarantine requirements.
– Here I must be very clear: everyone who is quarantined should be quarantined, says Councilor Valhammer.
It also refers to a study by the University of Bergen and the National Institute of Public Health published Thursday, that more than half of Norwegians violate quarantine rules.
Violation of the quarantine rules is illegal and can be prosecuted. Valhammer says at the press conference that they have not yet decided whether the people in question should be reported to the police.
– It is an opportunity to report this to the police in the future, says Valhammer.
Unknown transmission path
Health Councilor Beate Husa (KrF) said at Thursday’s press conference that several of the newly infected in Bergen have an unknown route of infection.
– Intensive work is being done to detect these infections, emphasizes Husa.
He notes that the new cases of infection in Bergen have mainly affected young people, but that they are concerned that this may change.
– There is infection in many different environments, and now we are concerned that the infection could affect the most vulnerable of us, says Husa.
– It is very important that the people who are going to visit their loved ones in our institutions take great care with the infection control regulations and do not come if they themselves have respiratory infections.

Allows 200 in outdoor events
The Bergen municipality came out yesterday with several strict measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus. Among other things, the municipality requests that public events cannot have more than 50 participants.
Valhammer states at the press conference that outdoor events can, however, have up to 200 participants.
– This may improve conditions for some players, says Valhammer about the rule change.
The measures that are now being introduced in Bergen will initially last until 18 September.
Valhammer notes that the situation in the business community has dramatically worsened with the new measures.
– This must be solved with packages for these industries. It cannot be solved by providing measures, says Valhammer.
