NFF has decided to cancel the implementation of the traditional cup this season.
On Thursday morning, Nettavisen was able to reveal that the Norwegian Men’s Championships in 2020 will be canceled and the Women’s National Championships will be held.
The online newspaper contacted NFF competition director Nils Fisketjønn, who declined to comment on the information.
The president of football: – An exceptional year
At 12 o’clock, however, confirmation came from the Norwegian Football Association and the football president, Terje Svendsen.
– 2020 is an exceptional year for society and for Norwegian football. For the first time in history, with the exception of the war years, a normal Norwegian men’s championship is not possible. NFF has always had a goal to get all of football going, says Svendsen.

– When the authorities have not given the green light to the training and competitions for all, the NM in 2020 will not be able in any case to be carried out with the wide clubs authorized to participate. After a general evaluation, the conclusion is, unfortunately, that this year’s Norwegian men’s championship is canceled, continues the football president.
The women’s final in Ullevaal
On the female side, the situation is different, since the playoffs have been cut. Dt provides space in the program to complete the SL.
– We know that the cup is important because of the commitment and attention that women’s football deserves. So I am very happy that we can complete the SL for women. Also, we moved the last house of this year to Ullevaal.

– As the situation is now, we cannot have more than 200 spectators, but we will do our part to create a great framework around the final within the framework of infection control together with our partners. With this, we send a signal about the importance of betting on women’s football, says Svendsen.
Considered several options
The situation in the crown has created problems for the implementation of the football season at all levels.
NFF has worked with several alternative scenarios to be named cup champion in the 2020 season. One of the most relevant lately has been playing the NC only for the 32 teams in the first two divisions on the men’s side.
Broad soccer is still waiting for the green light from the authorities to start normal training and match activity. A clarification of this will come at the earliest in mid-September.
Now that the men’s side NM will not take place in 2020, the Federal Board bases its decision on the men’s side cupbox, consisting of NOK 30 million, distributed in line with the normal 2017-2019 pay.
That means around 13 million crowns for the best clubs, 8 million crowns for the broad clubs and 8 million crowns for the football association.
