I will no longer have dinner with Erna

When the conservative leader Erna Solberg won the elections in 2013, she introduced a very special form of cooperation between the bourgeois parties. Through an agreement, she linked KrF and Venstre to the Conservative government and FRP.

The cooperation had a valve, which was described in point 5 C of the agreement, which states that “the Prime Minister regularly invites meetings with the parliamentary leaders of the cooperation parties, the party leaders and any other key person to discuss important issues and follow-up of the agreement. “

Since 2013, Erna Solberg has invited party leaders and parliamentary leaders from the Conservative Party, the Green Party, the Christian Democrats and the Liberal Party once a month to a “5 C meeting” and dinner at the residence of the Prime Minister.

Reed: – Completely unnatural

The Prime Minister continues to invite. But one of the participants now says no.

– I find it completely unnatural to sit there, says FRP leader Siv Jensen, who confirms that she has not participated in the dinners since FRP left the government this winter.

– Previously, we had a collaboration agreement, but many things have changed, says Jensen.

In Erna Solberg’s first term, KrF and the Liberal Party had a cooperation agreement with the government, but as of 2017 the “parliamentary agreement” ceased.

Missing Siv

However, the Liberal Party and the Christian Democrats continued to dine with the Prime Minister, even though they were in the same situation as the FRP is now: Outside the government and without a cooperation agreement.

– Of course I’d still like to have Siv Jensen at these dinners. But I understand that you don’t think it’s so natural to be there. We had those dinners, those so-called 5C meetings, when we had a collaboration agreement for the first four years. Then we continued with the dinners also after 2017. Knut Arild did not participate in as many in the period when KrF was in the election direction, but he was involved in the beginning, says Erna Solberg.

Trine lasted longer

But Siv Jensen has no plans to pick up the thread with the prime minister and attend dinners.

– Does this say something about a poorer climate of cooperation?

– No, it says first of all that it is a natural distance when we are no longer part of the collaboration. We are an independent opposition party, says Siv Jensen.

Trine Skei Grande has a small month left as a liberal leader and attended her last Erna dinner this week.

I will no longer have dinner with Erna

“For seven years, Erna has dined for us, party leaders and parliamentary leaders in the collaboration, once a month. I am now at my last dinner. Thank you so much for the exciting collaboration. And remember: I was the one who lasted 🙂 », wrote Grande on Facebook.

FRP handling

The liberal leader believes that the dinners have been important for the cooperation of the bourgeois side.

– It has been important and natural for me, as a liberal leader, to attend these meetings with the Prime Minister since 2013, both before we were in government and after we entered government. These meetings have been constructive and good for cooperation, they have been important in ensuring the advancement of the Liberal Party and clarifying difficult issues. Siv almost has to answer for herself why she no longer participates, Grande says.

Prime Minister Erna Solberg says with a twinkle in her eye that there are also some perks when Siv Jensen shines by her absence when inviting to dinner.

– Sometimes we also need discussions on how we should work together to deal with the FRP in the Storting, says the Prime Minister.
