The Oslo bomb squad heads to Sola after Stangeland Maskin has received a letter containing white powder.
Published:,
– Now it’s about taking control of the situation, says operations manager Toralv Skårland in the south-west police district of E24.
He states that the place where the letter is is now locked and frozen.
– We have requested help from the Oslo bomb squad. They come and take care of the letter, says Skårland.
– The building has been evacuated and the people who have been exposed are being cared for by medical personnel on site. No one has shown signs of discomfort after contact, he continues.
Tommy Stangeland, general manager of Stangeland Maskin is not in the office, but says the company is calm and lets the police follow the case.
He says he does not expect this to be a real threat.
Do you think it could be a joke?
– I hope so, because then it means that it is not dangerous, but in that case I am a very bad joke, says Stangeland.

Contractor in controversial wind power plant
About 70 people work in the office, all of whom have now been evacuated, HR manager Olav Silde at Stangeland Maskin reports to E24. He says the letter arrived at 11:15.
– This is handled routinely by the police, we follow instructions regarding evacuation, says Silde.
Stangeland Maskin is, among other things, a contractor for the controversial wind power development in Haramsøya.
Silde claims that they have no evidence to say that Haramsøya’s development may be the motive behind the letter.
Skårland in the police will also not link the letter to the development of wind energy.
– We have no clues or theories about the background that they have received letters, says Skårland.
– From now on, it is purely operational, so it will be a parallel investigation case. We have to come back to that later, he continues.
Stangeland Maskin’s general manager will not speculate on the motive behind the letter.
Could it have something to do with the development of wind power in Haramsøya?
– We have few enemies, but it is natural to think of something, says Stangeland.
He says they haven’t come close to experiencing something like this before.
Started work in May
Stangeland sent its first construction workers to Haramsøya in May. The company has been commissioned to build the road to the top of the mountain where the wind turbines will be located.
Both locals and visitors have toured the mountain. This is to try to prevent construction workers from doing their jobs. The goal has been to hold back workers so much that the company does not have time to finish before the deadline expires in December 2021, E24 has previously written.
On Tuesday, the Høyland Offshore shipping company in the Øygarden municipality also received an envelope with white powder. Late Tuesday night, it emerged that the contents of the letter were harmless.
