It broke up after the “Deluxe Trap”

Wednesday is the premiere of a new season of “The Luxury Trap”. Here, people in deep financial trouble get expert help to clean up, pay off debts, and set a budget to make ends meet.

The first participants are the newlyweds Veronika (32) and Alexander (33). They got married last year, after only knowing each other for three months. The couple also got each other’s names tattooed on their faces, as well as matching tattoos on their knee.

The marriage both brought with them significant financial problems, debt, and a consumption that turns host and economist Lene Drange upside down.

– Crazy consumption

The solarium, tattoos, take away, snuff and energy drinks make the couple’s bank cards heat up, while the prices on clothes, electronics and cars go up and up at sky-high interest rates.

Experts clean up the couple’s finances and give them a plan to get back on track. Expert Drange tells Dagbladet that what surprised her the most about the assignment was how much the couple had to deal with.

– They had a lot of money, but what they have had is an insane consumption. It is one of the most extreme cases we have this season. Consuming Red Bull ran out of money, it’s a typical “fancy trap” that I think a lot of people recognize. It becomes a daily waste that can quickly become very expensive, he says.

Regret at the wedding

Despite the fact that both consumption and debt ended up under control for the two, things have not gone well for Veronika and Alexander after the recording, which took place last summer. The series was exposed to corona, which is why it will hit screens for the first time this fall.

Private life has not been rosy as a result of the “Luxury Trap”: the couple has decided to separate.

– We pulled the separation in December. Already while the recording was taking place, it started to go downhill, and in September I decided to move, says Veronika.

As mentioned, the couple married shortly after meeting, something the 32-year-old now says she regrets.

– That was the dumbest thing I could do. Unfortunately, it was not well thought out. We will divorce in February, he says.

The two no longer have contact today. Alexander does not want to comment on the rape, but has agreed to bring it up.

Control of the economy

Although it has not been easy for Veronika, she is positive and hopes to see the episode with her ex on television.

– It was a nice experience and I am very grateful for everything, she says.

He has also overcome his addiction to Red Bull, which had previously cost him more than 20,000 kroner a year.

– Now actually, I only drink a Red Bull every Sunday for fun. When there was a lockdown with the four-year-old, he became a little older, then needed a little more caffeine, he laughs.

– I have a Red Bull tattoo on my arm. I’m the queen of Red Bull, I should have been sponsored, she adds laughing.

On the job front, unfortunately, things haven’t been going well for the 32-year-old either. The company she was CEO of closed before the New Year and has struggled to find a new job during the corona pandemic.

– It happened suddenly, it was very unexpected and I was very sorry. Today there are difficult times with many unemployed, but I am often in job interviews. But I try to think positively, he says.

Where Veronika hopes to see the episode, Alexander, for his part, has no plans to turn on the screen, but says the recording and the experience were very positive.

– It has gone from being the most degrading, to the best thing that I have done. I have cleaned up the economy and taken care of all things. I have better finances than ever. I really appreciate all the help from the kind people, it’s been a very good experience, he says.
