Lesvos Post is among the sources reporting fires and shootings in or near the Moria camp on Lesbos on Tuesday night.

According to the videos posted on the Stand By me Lesvos Facebook page, it is burning in various places in the camp. There are also reports of shootings and riots in the camp.

This weekend, the corona infection was first detected in the Moria camp on Lesbos, where extensive testing and infection tracking has now been implemented. The overcrowded camp, which is home to about 13,000 people, has been under quarantine until September 15. Only security personnel can enter after measuring body temperature.

Tinnesand says the police have asked people to leave the camp as soon as possible. The fires are out of control. It is not surprising that the situation has gotten out of control.

– This is something we’ve been warning about since March, that people will panic if it’s not done correctly. This was expected. People knew that the situation could get out of control. It is unnecessary. It goes back to the fact that there has been no adequate information about what is happening.

– People have not been adequately informed about the crown’s measures and the experience of being detained when they are picked up by voluntary organizations. That is why the riots have broken out, Tinnesand explains to TV 2.

The situation in the field is described as completely out of control. The people of Tinnesand have spoken to say that Greek police have attacked the refugees and prevented them from leaving the camp, which is on fire.

– All Moria is on fire. Buildings are destroyed, people go to jail to free prisoners, and cars are destroyed. In addition, the police and the army have fired shots. People are blocking the fire department, so they are not allowed to put out the fires. People are panicking. It’s total chaos. This could be the end for Moria, Tinnesand says.

– Everything is out of control. The asylum office is on fire and will burn. People lose everything they own. They write that they expect people to die in the field. There is no control.

– The whole camp is on fire. At half past ten they told me it was burning in five places. The wind is blowing strong and these fires have just spread. They are burning more all the time. It’s chaos, says Tinnesand.
