Be | Meteorologists warn of strong storms

On Monday, a strong storm accumulates on the west coast, but in one part of the country strong contradictions are expected throughout the week.

– It gets wet and partly quite windy in western Norway. Especially this afternoon, but actually the whole of next week, low pressures are ready in a row, Meteorological Institute duty officer Pernille Borander tells Nettavisen about the weather he has in store.

As is well known, western Norway is particularly exposed to storms and the state meteorologist expects additional rains in the west over the next week.

On the other hand, the low pressure is expected to affect areas along the coast further north as well.

– Both Trøndelag and Nordland can get quite wet. It’s also special on Monday that there can be a bit more with the wind, says Borander, adding that it mostly applies from Rogaland, through Møre og Romsdal, and all the way to Finmark.

Worst since april

A parallel coastal wind causes inland areas to escape cheaper, while on the coast, in exposed places, it can reach a full or strong storm.

– The worst will be in the Stad area. It’s been a while since we’ve had so much wind, we actually have to go back to April. It’s clearly a typical sign that fall is coming, explains Borander.

Although the inhabitants of the exposed places are probably used to a bit of stormy weather, the meteorologist still recommends making reservations.

– We have not sent a danger warning yet, even if it will do some time, but you should be aware that we are in a new season. They can handle a lot, the ones who live in this part of the country, but you should probably leave the ship until the worst happens, the warning says.

He adds that typical of this particular type of weather is that the weather in Østafjells will not be so bad.

It’s true that some scattered rainfall is expected earlier in the week, but it looks better later.

– From night to Tuesday it can be a little rainy Østafjells, but otherwise it seems that the weather is good on this side of the mountains. Southern and eastern Norway seem to be moving very well, and it is quite typical for western Norway and the areas further up towards Nordland to be hit the hardest when low pressures come from the sea, explains Borander.

– It’s not autumn yet

At least at the beginning of the week, the temperature will remain high, with almost 20 degrees in various places in Sørlandet and Østlandet from Monday to Wednesday.

-Then it will be the low pressure that is on us now lying and circulating. During the week, it appears to be Nordavind, which means the temperature drops a bit, says Borander.

On the other hand, you also have some good news, because after the small drop in temperature, there are good prospects for more good weather in eastern Norway during the last week.

– It seems to be warmer again this weekend. Then there are good opportunities for pleasant summer temperatures again, says the meteorologist.

According to weather statistics from the Meteorological Institute, autumn is also not expected to arrive in Oslo until September 21.

It is based on the fact that the daily average temperature should be between 0 and 10 degrees, something that has not been done so far in the quarter.

– Naturally, it varies from year to year, but it is not abnormal with the high temperatures that we see now in September. In fact, it has started to get quite cold in the mornings. Diurnal variations are typical for this time of year, says Borander.

Although the sun shines all day and summer days reach 20 degrees, the temperature drops rapidly during the afternoon and at night due to the small clouds.

– If it had had some clouds at night, it would not have escaped all the heat, explains the state meteorologist.
