On Sunday, police in the east reported the discovery of a dead woman in her 40s at Spjørøy in Hvaler.
Task leader Remi Kopperud informs Fredriksstad Blad that the person was found at Hvaler camp, near Sand Marina.
– A lifeless person has been found in a river, here in connection with the campsite. It was a passerby who found the person in question, says Kopperud.
The person who first discovered the dead man tells the local newspaper that the shock was great when they made the discovery in the river.
– The person was found behind the carriage in the twig in the morning, says the person in question.
Visited camping guests
Dagbladet is aware that several Østfold car enthusiasts gathered for a nice trip to Hvaler camp this weekend.
– The dead woman has no relation to our event, says one of the guests of the camp.
Another guest tells Dagbladet that the dead person must have visited the camp last night.
– We have our own guest space at the campsite, where there was a couple who stayed this weekend. From what I understand, these guests were visited yesterday by the woman who has now been found dead.
– Too early to conclude
Just before 10 a.m. Sunday, the Eastern Police District announced that they were working on technical and tactical investigation steps at the site.
– We have investigated the area and have been in contact with people at the camp to chart the course of events, Operations Manager Tom Sandberg tells Dagbladet.
The dead man was pulled out of the water and sent for an autopsy.
– When it comes to cause of death, it is too early to conclude one way or another, police lawyer Laila Hegard in the East Police District tells NRK.
Police currently have no suspicions that something criminal has happened, but emphasize that there is an ongoing investigation.
