Nortel and Norwegian Olympic rowing winner Olaf Tufte have found the tone. While the mobile phone company will buy clothes from Tufte’s collection and sponsor his work, Tufte will acquire more mobile customers.

– Together we will lead the sport and be an active supporter of Tufte, a veteran in Norwegian sports, and at the same time promote the youngest talents. Tufte represents sports, but also entrepreneurs and SMEs, says Christian Pritchard, founder and CEO of the mobile phone company Nortel, in a statement.

Pritchard launched the mobile enterprise in the corporate market in the fall of 2019, with a special focus on small and medium-sized businesses.

Now he and Nortel have caught up with Olaf Tufte and his clothing brand Tufte Wear.

Believe in the customer’s hope

The deal is that Nortel buys clothes and sponsors Tufte’s ship, at the same time that Tufte will promote Nortel on its network. Nortel can also use Tufte’s farm for events.

The Nortel CEO says he expects to attract 5,000 new users from 1,250 different companies through the Tufte network and channels.

– I will challenge my network to choose Nortel as its phone service provider. I think there is a strong team behind the company, they have good products and good customer service, which means I can face it in front of my circle of friends, says Olaf.

The link between sport and mobile is not new.

The competitor sponsors the ice, for example the Biathlon Association, Telenor is known as an alpine sponsor and Telia sponsors esports.

– In sports and business, it depends on quality and high ambitions to achieve results, in addition to collaboration, whether with colleagues on the boat, the organization or with partners, says Tufte.

It has already acquired 3,500 companies

Christian Pritchard once created the mobile phone company Mobitalk until it was sold to Phonero (now part of Telia) in 2016.

When he was going to launch Nortel, he brought with him well-known names in the industry such as former Telia director, Kristian Renaas as sales director and former Tele2 Norway mobility manager and Link Arild Hustad as chairman of the board.

On the investor side, we also find the former CEO of Aker, Leif Arne Langøy.

The company has grown rapidly since its inception.

Pritchard has previously told E24 that it expects to need between 15,000 and 20,000 customers (users) to be profitable.

– How many companies and users do you have now?

– We have exceeded 3,500 companies, says Pritchard and continues:

– The goal was 15,000 users by the end of the year. We broke our own goal by the end of the year. It confirms two things, that we got our concept and message right, and we have trained employees who deliver month after month.

Given that this forecast is correct, Nortel may be on track to enter further just a year and a half after its launch.
